The Peanut Trial as it is colloquially known is part of a rail bed that once connected Newton Junction NH to Merrimack MA. The Merrimack MA segment is now known as the Jay Mclaren Trail. The original rail bed was split in two after as the end result of a lawsuit involving locals. The end result is that one can no longer enjoy travel along its entire length. The segment known as the peanut trail in Newton NH is a 1 mile gentle and scenic grade. It is used year round by folks biking, walking, running etc.
